2013/2014 Initiatives

Through the work of the Advisory Council, as well as the Working Groups and Mental Health Steering, Creating a Better Workplace is focusing on the following for 2013/2014:

Rewards and Recognition

  • Employee Rewards & Recognition expansion

Leadership and Management Excellence

  • Continue to offer comprehensive learning and development opportunities to enhance effective leadership and management amongst all levels of management
  • Enhance professional development opportunities including professional development funds

Information Sharing & Communications

  • Investigate, recommend and develop tools, training and templates that will support the sharing of organizational communications with York employees

Mental Health Steering

  • Develop an integrated mental health policy
  •  Integrate mental health EDU (e-Learning Awareness Program) in faculty, students and staff orientations
  •  Establish ongoing series of activities that promote mentally healthy campus
  •  Strengthen on-campus and community partnerships
